In Kate and Koji season 2 it’s business as usual for opinionated, pinny-clad caff-owner, Kate (Brenda Blethyn) and her asylum seeker, doctor friend Koji.
The cafe doors are open, the kettle is on, and the regulars are back. However, there is one notable change - Okorie Chukwu has replaced Jimmy Akingbola as Koji.
Okorie Chukwu has taken over the part for season 2, after Jimmy Akingbola stepped down from his role of Koji after a series of COVID-related delays brought about a clash with his schedule after he signed on to Bel-Air, the Fresh Prince remake.
His co-star Brenda Blethyn (who plays seaside cafe owner Kate in the the series) said on the announcement of season 2: “I'm so pleased Kate will be welcoming her customers back into the caff. Even the postman!
"I’ve missed them. So looking forward to donning the gingham apron and welcoming Okorie to our Kate and Koji family.”

Following the success of their 2015 election comedy Ballot Monkeys, Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin (Ballot Monkeys, Outnumbered, Drop the Dead Donkey) returned to Channel 4 in 2016 with a six-part satire lampooning the fictional communications and social media ‘experts’ on both sides of the EU referendum, as well as taking audiences a few doors down from the Kremlin and into the imagined world of Donald Trump’s campaign plane.
Featuring a stellar comedic cast including Jack Dee and Claire Skinner in the pro-Europe ‘Unity Unit’, and Andy Nyman and Kevin McNally heading the ‘Brexit Roadshow’ bus, the show will, of course, go big on the EU, with two episodes bookending June’s all-important Brexit referendum.
